Join me as we journey back to one of the most captivating locations in the Columbia River Gorge—Oneonta Gorge, before the devastating Eagle Creek Fire. From the Historic Highway crossing to descending into the creek bed, this adventure was both challenging and awe-inspiring. We carefully navigated unstable logjams, waded through deep water, and trekked over uneven ground to witness the breathtaking Lower Oneonta Falls. This 100-foot waterfall cascading into a serene pool at the base of the gorge was worth every step. Painted with brilliant lichen and moss, the narrow slot canyon of Oneonta Gorge is a true wonder of nature. Though the area is now closed due to the fire, I hope to inspire you to visit when it reopens.
