Experience the beauty of nature through this unique piece of fine art photography. Some people think I'm crazy. But I got up at 4:00 a.m. to capture this perfect moment. It's risky to lose a few hours of sleep to drive up to a lake at 7,300' elevation in the dark in hopes that a sunrise like this will be waiting for me when I get there. But I've learned that I never catch mornings like this at the lake while I am still home in bed. Mornings like this happen all the time all around us but we need to take ourselves to the places and circumstances that will afford us with the greatest opportunity to experience them. I knew that the sun would come up that morning. I knew that it would be shining from the east. And I hoped that I would catch the first glow of sunlight as it hit those peaks and reflected on the glassy still surface of that lake. I really got lucky that day when the clouds were there waiting for the sun too. Even in the darkest nights of life, mornings like this are still in our future. Now is the time to prepare for them so that we are ready when we are at the water's edge and the sun finally comes up again and fills our lives with light. Enjoy the memory that I captured that day.
