It was a very cold, late November night when I decided to capture this historic structure. It really does stand as a beacon of spirituality, peace and power in the Salt Lake City skyline. Currently, in 2021 the entire Temple Square is under a massive reconstruction project. The Salt Lake Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. At 253,015 square feet, it is the largest LDS temple by floor area. It was dedicated in 1893, it is the sixth temple completed by the Church, and required 40 years to complete, and the fourth temple built since the Mormon exodus from Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1846. On April 19, 2019 the LDS Church announced that the temple would close on December 29, 2019 for seismic renovations that are anticipated to take approximately four years. Everything on Temple Square is currently being updated.
