In Barcelona Spain, Antonio Gaudi planned and directed the construction of a park from 1900 to 1914 for Eusebi Guell, his patron, for a residential area intended for sixty single- family residences called Park Guell. It was intended to be Guell's private city and became Barcelona's favorite little park. Gaudi let loose his imagination. Here, he shaped nature into colonnades, archways and covered galleries with well-camouflaged artificial structures. It's a playground for the mind filled with visual jokes, like columns that simulate palm-tree trunks, rubble-surfaced arches that grow out of the ground, quilts of ceramic tiles, and even a big mosaic-covered lizard. The day I was there was crowded and it was interesting to get this shot. I actually had to take dozens of shots of the collonade with people swarming everywhere to provide me with enough shots to extract all of the people for this completely empty collonade that you see in this image. What would I ever do without PhotoShop?
